Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information KiwiHearts collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle your information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
1. Information we collect
- Profile information you provide: name, date of birth, gender, nationality, photos, bio, interests, region and preferences.
- Account information: email address, mobile number and password. Both the email address and the mobile number are required to create an account, and your password is stored only as a secure hash.
- Usage information: swipes, matches, messages, mood check-ins and daily activity needed to run the app.
- Device information: a push-notification token (if you enable notifications) and basic technical data.
2. How we use it
- To create your profile and match you with other members.
- To operate chat, Discover, credits and notifications.
- To review new profiles and keep the community safe.
- To respond to your reports and support requests.
3. What others can see
Your profile — photos, name, age, region, bio, interests and current mood — is visible to other members as part of the core dating experience. Your phone number and email are never shown to other members.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the app (for example, hosting and push-notification delivery), and only as needed to provide the service, or where required by law.
5. Security & retention
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, and keep it only as long as your account is active or as needed to comply with our legal obligations.
6. Your choices
- Edit your profile information at any time in the app.
- Turn push notifications on or off from your device settings.
- Delete your account permanently from Settings, which removes your profile and associated data.
7. Contact
For any privacy question or request, contact the KiwiHearts team through the in-app "Report a problem" tool.
